It seems like a soft, creamy fawny yellow... contrasted with the richer yellow flower in the background...
I have no idea what this plant may be...
Anyone?

It looks to me like an artichoke gone to flower and seed, Gemma. The stems are very artichoke like. Nice shot!
Looks like a sunflower! Whatever it is it makes for a fab foto.
Great shot, Gemma! Thanks for hosting.
My guess is some kind of thistle plant. When asking people to identify a plant, if possible, include some leaves. Pretty!
Thank you Christine for your suggestion. That sounds like a possibility because it was right by a vegetable garden at Montalto vineyards. And Sara, there were no leaves to photograph - just bare stalks.
I agree with Christine about artichoke, Gemma.
Fascinating plant, whatever it is—but I agree with Christine. (And thanks again for hosting, Gemma.)
Beautiful photo!
Wonderfull shot ,greeting from Belgium.
